Long Rides.............Emergencies............ Carelessness................

Randonneuring is becoming famous day by day & started attracting more n more people for Long Distance Riding.

Some mandatory things or Rules for Randonneur Rides are like.........To carry Front Light, Tail Blinker, Bandolier or Reflector Vest. Some other things mentioned are - no external support allowed.

For our own sake we can carry our own puncture kits, spare tubes & necessary equipments to deal with the most obvious Flat Tyre isues in these Long Rides.

Some more things are required from Rider's side............& these are not as part of Rules but as a prt of Volunteer inputs. Some points regarding this came to notice in BRM300 on 8th March 2010.

In this advance age, everyone has a mobile phone. Everyone should carry this DEVICE fully charged when leaving for Long Rides. Contact numbers of all the Riders were already shared with the "Controle Guys". But there are always some exceptions available for every case in this world. So do we.

Noticed some cases when, some riders didnt even bother to inform the Controle Guys (waiting only for them) that they are quiting the race & moving back home by some or the other media. The question is : Is this tolerable ??

Take an example of yesterdays BRM300 Ride. How many of you have seen a Public Phone in between the Controle Points ?? How many of you have noted down the Emergency Numbers put up on roadside by HighwayPolice.

If the Controle Guy is doing his Duty waiting for you after the Closing Time , then you must have a manners to inform at one of the Controle Point that you are leaving race & are turning back home.

This helps in some ways..........if you can make it to Finish & are willing to Turn back home........the Controle Guys can help you find some Transport for moving back home.

One request for everyone........Dont take it personally.

But do think over it as the case mentioned above did happen yesterday.

If the Organizers are going an Extra Mile to help you then they also need some Respect in return of that ...................or atlest your satisfactory Smile.

सह्यान्कन २००९ – एक अनुभवः

सह्यान्कन; फ़क्त एक शब्द ऎकल्यावर बर्याच गोश्टी भराभर डोळ्यासमोरुन गेल्या।।।।

मूम्ब्र्याला attend केलेली Practice session, त्या नन्तर लीडर्स कडून आलेले Pilot Reports, SAP या नावाने येणारे Updates चे mail, सह्यान्कन च्या आधीचे ग़ेट-टुगेदर, Google Earth cha एकद्म मस्त वापर, अमेय ने वाचलेल्या सुचना, सामानाच्या Packing ची धावपळ, ५ दिवसान्ची ध्म्माल, हरिश्चन्द्र गडा वर झालेली बाचाबाची, Gary च्या बिनधास्त comments, लांबा ने नळीत बसून केलेली दाढी।।आणि बरेच काही।।।।।।।

एक अप्रतीम अनुभव।।।।

तसा मी आधीपासूनच “चक्रम”, पण या वेळी अजून बरेच चक्रम सॊबतीला, त्या मुळे आलेली वेगळीच मजा।।। सहसा कॊणा बरोबर न जाणारा मी या वेळी चक्रम बरोबर जायचा विचार केला।

या Group ची आवडलेली एक महत्वाची गोश्ट म्हणजे, पारदर्श्क विचार द्रुश्टी।।।।। जे जे होइल, त्या प्रत्येक गोश्टीत सगल्यान्ना Involve करणे। अगदी सुरुवाती पासून। सगळे; म्हणजे बहूत-अन्शी सभासद Mulund चे रहीवासी। मी मात्र त्या मानाने परदेशी।।।।।।दादर चा। त्या मूळे सामानाच्या packing च्या वेळी खूप कमी वेल देता आला मला। पण सगळ्यान्चा उत्साह बघून मि सुद्धा ३/४ वेळा गेलॊ दादर हून जोश मधे।

ऒफ़िस ने नेहमी प्रमाने घॊळ घातल्या मूळे पहिल्या दिवशीच्या Batch बरोबर निघणे थोडे मुश्किल झाले। महेश ला आधीच कल्पना दिली होती। बॊस बरोबर शाब्दिक चकमक, मग गडबडीने घरी, मग Train ची मारामारी, त्या नन्तर कल्याण डेपो मध १ तास बधीतलेली वाट। त्या नन्तरचा Jeep चा प्रवास। असे सगळे सोपस्कार करून रात्री ।११।३० ला बेलपाडा camp वर पोचलो। पराग OKA साहेब जागेच होते। काका बरोबर गप्पान्चा कार्यक्रम चालू होता। थोडा वेळ थाम्बून मग गप्चुप tent मधे गेलो झोपायला। दुसर्या बॆच बरोबर सकाळी लवकर निघायच होत।

पहिल्यान्दीच चाललॊ होतो नळीच्या वाटेने। मनात विचार करत होतो। ज्या माणसाला स्वताहाला वाट माहित नाही तो बाकीच्याना ४ दिवस काय मदत करणार ?? मग म्हटल, Leader म्हणुन चाललोय तर करायलाच हव। ३ member सकाळी सकाळीच गळलॆ। शेवटी सगल्यान बरोबर निघालॊ। अप्रतीम वाट। प्रत्येक मिनीटा मिनीटाला Ulhas Valley ची आत्ह्वन येत होती। एकून ३ शीडया होत्या वरच्या Platue ला पोचे पर्यन्त। बॆच खरच मस्त होती। रस्ता बराचसा ढ़ासळलेला। शेवटच्या बॆच पर्यन्त काय शिल्ल्क राहील काय माहिती ? सगळे सोपस्कार पार पाडून सगळे ४।०० वाजता “कोकण कड्या” वर पोचले। अप्रतीम सुर्यास्त बघायला मिळाला।

गडा वर गेल्यावर कळल की Leader’s करीता वेगळी Special Cave आहे। बाकीचे Camp Leader’s भेटले। भाउ, वइभव, आशूतोश, रेश्मा आणि जुने मीत्र उदय पोवळे।

पुढ़चे ४ दिवस थोड्या फ़ार फ़रकाने सारख़ेच होते। दुसर्या दिवसच्या बॆचने मात्र आमचा जीव काढ़ला।

रोजची सकाल वइभव कडुन व्हायची। चहा, नाश्टा, त्या नन्तर Introduction Session (याला ओळ्ख परेड असेही म्हनतात) आशु तर्फ़े। त्या नन्तर चे Photo Session. लक्शात राहीलेली दुसर्या दिवसाची गोश्ट म्हनजॆ “केदारेश्वर कुन्डात” केलेली आन्घोळ (मी आणी वइभव)।

तिसर्या दिवशी झालेली हमरी तूमरी (२५ डिसेम्बर) हा एक मजेशीर अनुभव होता। आधी हुज्जत घालणारे; बॆच मधल्या माणसन्ची सन्ख्या वाढ़्ल्यावर गपचुप निघून गेले होते।

रोज खाली उतरताना आशु आणि भाउ Scree Patch वर घाशीराम, घाशीराम म्हणत उतरत। मला प्रश्न पड्ला होता, हा काय प्रकार आहे। एका दिवशी भाउ ने खुलासा केला। “घाशीराम” म्हणजे खाली बसून बूड घासत जाणे।

शन्तनू कडून बरेच काही शिकायला मिळाले। कावळा, लाम्बा, शारन्ग, भाउ, आशु, उदय यान्ची मस्त company मिळाली।
